The Presidency of the Republic and the stakeholders in the Sino-Congolese contract are launching a comprehensive audit of infrastructure projects and mining commitments under their collaboration agreement this Thursday, July 23. Meeting this Tuesday, July 21, at the Palais de la Nation under the chairmanship of Anthony Nkinzo Kamole, Chief of Staff to the Head of State, the Congolese and Chinese delegations finalized the methodology for this in-depth evaluation, which will continue until mid-August.

This strategic review is part of Article 18 of the Collaboration Agreement and Article 1 of its Amendment No. 5, signed in 2024. On the Congolese side, it brings together the Collaboration Agreement Steering, Coordination and Monitoring Agency (APCSC), Gécamines, the Congolese Agency for Major Works (ACGT), the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Ministries of Finance, Infrastructure, and Mines. The Chinese side, represented by its consortium of companies, is actively participating in the proceedings.

The main objective of this annual exercise is to review progress on the ground while identifying administrative, financial, and logistical obstacles. According to the APCSC, this work allows for concrete adjustments to be made to the monitoring of major national projects already underway or completed, notably the Kinshasa ring road, National Route No. 1 (RN1), and the strategic Kalamba-Mbuji axis.

Welcomed by the Chinese partnership, this evaluation should allow for a transparent assessment of the program’s contribution to infrastructure development in the Democratic Republic of Congo, while setting operational priorities for the coming months.
