Uzbekistan agrees with ACWA Power to build new plant
AKIPRESS.COM – Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held talks with Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power Mohammad Abunayyan, UzA reported.
The parties discussed the current issues of implementing the company’s portfolio of projects in Uzbekistan and the prospects for enhancing investment cooperation in the energy and chemical industries.
A significant contribution of this foreign company to the development of the country’s energy sector was noted during the meeting. The company’s investment portfolio in Uzbekistan includes 8 projects worth over $6.8 billion and a design capacity of over 5.5 GW.
A constructive exchange of views took place on the current issues of implementing ongoing projects for the construction of a combined-cycle power plant in Syrdarya region with a capacity of 1.5 GW, wind power plants in Bukhara region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan with a total capacity of 2.6 GW and solar stations in Samarkand and Tashkent regions with a capacity of 1.4 GW.
An agreement was reached on adopting practical measures to ensure the accelerated launch of projects.
The parties also welcomed the conclusion of new agreements on the project for constructing a plant to produce green hydrogen with a capacity of 3,000 tons per year. Construction work is scheduled to start this autumn.
The prospects for accelerating the localization project to produce equipment for wind turbines were also discussed.
Following the talks, the parties agreed on adopting targeted measures.
