Iraq receives offers to finance, implement Development Road
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, confirmed on Thursday that Iraq received offers from several countries to finance and undertake the Development Road, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.
The statement mentioned that Al-Sudani received the Chinese Ambassador to Iraq, Cui Wei, in the presence of the Iraqi Minister of Transport, where they discussed relations and aspects of cooperation between the two countries and ways to develop these relations in various fields.
The Iraqi Prime Minister stressed Iraq’s openness to all partnerships and its keenness to establish sustainable development to support security and stability efforts, the statement illustrated.
“Iraq’s promising strategic project, represented by the Development Road, has the interest of all authorities in Iraq,” Al-Sudani said.
The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized that work is currently underway on several projects related to the Development Road, such as the Al-Faw Grand Port and the associated industrial city, as well as a new residential city near the port.
Al-Sudani indicated that Iraq received offers from several countries in the region to finance and implement the project, the statement clarified.
Wei expressed the Chinese leadership’s keenness to sustain the best relations with Iraq in various fields and to boost mutual cooperation, the statement explained.
The Chinese Ambassador to Iraq highlighted that the Development Road project is important for Iraq, will represent a path to peace and prosperity in the region, and will become a complement to the Belt and Road project, according to the statement.
Wei expressed his desire to review the economic feasibility study of the project and China’s readiness to provide technical advice to complete this vital project, the statement added.
