Congo – Corridor 13: President Denis Sassou N’Guesso met with the President of the AfDB

MAkinwumi Adesina made this announcement following discussions with President Denis Sassou N’Guesso. On this occasion, the two personalities discussed, among other subjects, the second phase of the project.

“ The bank has already made available to the Central African Republic a total amount of 272 million dollars, or approximately 165 billion CFA francs, for the construction of the interior section of the country. As for Congo, it benefited from funding of $57 million from Bdeac ,” explained Akinwumi Adesina.

This corridor linking the Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic and Chad, is among the main integrating projects in the Central Africa sub-region and the AfDB. It will facilitate trade and the movement of people.

The Development Bank of Central African States (Bdeac) will also support these countries in carrying out this project. According to the president of the AfDB, the final adjustments to the project have been completed and around 335 billion CFA francs disbursed for the effective start of the projects.

In addition to the Brazzaville-Bangui-N’Djamena corridor, Denis Sassou N’Guesso and Akinwumi Adesina also discussed the Kinshasa-Brazzaville bridge-road-rail integrator project.

The President of the Republic of Congo highlighted the problems of financing the construction of new electrical lines Pointe-Noire, Brazzaville, Oyo, to improve electricity service which has been disrupted in recent times.

The AfDB is committed to helping Congo carry out these projects, reassured Akinwumi Adesina.
